Update
It’s now close to the end of May 2024 and the show is back broadcasting regularly on Sundays at 10pm UK time. There have been LOADS of technical problems, mainly of course caused by operator error. Using new software (Radioboss) and having a LOT of trouble getting the config right so I have been using BUTT as the encoder relatively successfully. I have yet to have a totally hitch free show and perhaps I never shall but that’s just fine by me.
Here’s a recent show with old friend Boycottbbca, AKA Tom Olson
A long strange trip.
This is the most recent iteration of “Chimpcasting” on the web. I accidentally let the domain expire and it was snatched up by what I think is a South Korean porn site. So for now, this is where I will post stuff if I remember and if I have the energy.
As I write this I am about a week and a half away from moving back to the UK after living in the US for nearly 40 years and so the show is on hiatus until after that move is completed. I’ve been doing a show on UKNR for about 20 years I think. Chimpcasting started off as “choons” Tuesday and Thursday nights and then morphed into talking about “things and stuff”. This is a pretty broad topic as you can imagine. Most recently it’s been about American politics. We (me and several different co-hosts) have covered 4 US general elections and in each case called the results before all of the US news networks so they are poofaces and we are good.
I recently updated my audio setup which until about a year ago consisted of a giant mixer and interminable miles of cabling, to something much more portable which also improved the show’s audio and ability to do things like take phone calls. I anticipate starting the show again at the end of February 2024 and will post shows here and on Spotify. Until then, listen to my interview with Eddy and Alice when they were caught in Cairo during turbulent times
Arrived in the UK yesterday morning and slept fitfully for the next 24 hours. I feel like I’m five years old because I have no idea how anything works. Turning on the heat is an intense dive into user manuals coupled with texts to family about said heat and “why does it make this noise all the time?” I have to do grown up things like get internet set up and call my auntie. I’ll survive, hopefully.
Setting up my “equipment” in the next few days and hope to be back doing the show on a weekly basis again soon. In the meantime why not listen to some old Losertown shows right here
First show from Scotland was a little bit crappy. But we had fun! A few technical hitches and some lack of prep on my part made it slightly more terrible than usual but next week will be better.
